DAY 6 - BEAVERTON - READY, SET ... RIDE INTO SPRING

Day 6 of 365 ...

Anyone wanting to get out this Saturday morning to enjoy a springtime bicycle ride, please take note of the following FREE event presented by the Tualatin Hills Parks and Recreation District.  Everyone interested is invited to the 2nd annual Tualatin Hills Ride Into Spring.

Date:  May 15, 2010, in conjunction with National Bike Month

Time:  Starting at 9:00 a.m.

Location:  Tualatin Hills Nature Park

Address:  15655 S.W. Millikan Way, Beaverton, Oregon

Helmets are required for all participants on the bike ride.  An adult parent or guardian must accompany any bicyclist younger than 16 years of age.  Bike trailers are OK for this event.

The Ride Into Spring  event will feature a non-competitive bike ride with three distance options:

2.)  4.5 miles to Bethany Village off Bethany Boulevard

3.)  8.0 miles to the Rock Creek Powerline Park Soccer Fields

All mileage listed above is one way, so double the mileage if you're planning to return by riding back to the Nature Park.

The 2.2-mile one-way route is recommended for novice riders.  You are encouraged to get off your bike at Willow Creek and stroll the boardwalk through the nature area, a serene setting featuring wildlife habitat and a variety of trees and other vegetation.

Prior to the ride, the Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District and its Trails Advisory Committee will host a brief presentation at 8:30 a.m. at the Nature Park about the Park District's expanding trails network and challenges to overcome to make the system more accessible and convenient for walkers, joggers and bicyclists.

This event should be fun for bikers of all ages as well as educational and refreshments will be served.
